We all know the old adage: partners can’t handle success. As a partner in multiple businesses, this scares me, as I want to ensure the best not only for myself but also for my business partners. But the idea of partnership is far more than that, because in a sense we all have partners, even if we’re not actively in business with them. We have spouses, girlfriends, boyfriends, or close team members. Taking an active and deliberate approach to how we handle partnership is key if we want to find both harmony and success in our lives.
When I graduated from college, I was beyond fortunate that my first job (and internship before that), was with a company called Off Madison Ave. OMA is a legendary full service marketing & public relations agency located in Phoenix, AZ that has provided award-winning services to the world’s most iconic brands. Throughout my post-OMA career, I’ve always looked back fondly on my time there, and have been impressed with how the agency was run and grown by its founders Dave & Roger.
On the surface they couldn’t be more different. As we’ll learn in this show, that’s an incredible strength. But what’s unique is how they actively aligned their core values and that shared belief system has served as the foundation for a successful partnership that is now celebrating its 20th anniversary.
This episode was a ton of fun to record, and it is jam-packed with wisdom for anyone that’s running a business, wants to run a business, or simply wants to be a better partner in some facet of live.
I hope you enjoy!
